The Short Version
The Chapman Kumquat is a student-run satire publication. We use analytics cookies to see how the site is used, and you can turn them off any time. Beyond that, we only collect what you choose to send us through our forms, and we don’t sell any of it.
Things You Send Us
- Mailing list: your name, mailing address, and email. We use your address to mail you the paper and your email only to tell you if the mail bounces.
- Advice submissions: your message and, if you give it, your name. When you submit, you agree that we can publish your message anonymously in an issue.
- Staff applications: these go through forms hosted by an outside service, which collects whatever you enter there and sends it to us.
- Email: if you email us, we get your address and whatever you write.
The mailing list and advice forms are stored in Google Forms. To stop spam, our server briefly keeps track of how often your IP address submits a form, in memory only. It isn’t written down anywhere.
Other Services That See Your Visit
Like any website, a few services handle your requests just to show you the page:
- Netlify hosts the site and sees standard request information like your IP address and browser.
- Sanity stores our articles and images. Your browser connects to it to receive live updates when we publish.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on some articles, so Google sees your IP address when those fonts download.
Your Choices
- Decline cookies, or change your answer with in the footer.
- Ask us to see, correct, or delete anything you’ve sent us, or to take you off the mailing list, by emailing chapmankumquat@gmail.com.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The site works fine without them.
Kids
The Kumquat is written for college students and isn’t meant for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and Questions
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Questions go to chapmankumquat@gmail.com.
