Dodge Professor Convinced You're Overreacting Right Now
Issue 30 | May 2021
"It was a JOKE", shouts Screenwriting 327 professor, Robert Downs, "You people are so sensitive these days". This explosive comment comes just moments after Downs critiqued a female student's script by saying, "Why'd you make the women talk so much?" When the entire class became visibly tense, he elaborated that "back in my day, we kept it to one female character per movie, cause it couldn't be a blockbuster unless somebody's tits were out."
While every woman was silent for the entire rest of the class, Junior Riley Stewart had a lot to say about the matter. "If he had said that shit and been a little younger with a more impressive IMDB, it would have been fine, but the last thing this guy worked on was Police Academy." Sophomore Abby Kozel had a slightly different take: "Yeah, I've given up talking in that class"
Although Dodge administration declined to comment on the incident, their social media team was able to DM us an Instagram graphic that once again highlighted their standing as the fourth best film school in the country. However, after months of pushback from female students, Dodge has finally created an action plan they think will dissipate much of the complaints: women are no longer allowed to fill out course evaluations.
