Five Years After Film School I'm Finally Watching the Wire

At my grown age of thank god less than thirty, I have finally gotten around to watching The Wire. I've lived 18 years of life followed by 4 years of screenwriting education at the nation's sixth place film school then, you know, some time after that. All that life and now I'm finally dipping my toes (settle down) into a show lauded by many as the best of all time. My initial takeaway from the series is that prime Idris Elba was sexy as hell. We know that he's old British guy hot now, but I think a lot of us are forgetting this version where he's got glasses on, and he's talking regular American, and he's kind of like a slutty crime librarian. Crime the sexy way? He's doing crime and going to community college to get better at crime? Oof. He had one of my favorite characters killed and I was batting my little eyelashes. I doubt anyone in Baltimore has ever been sexy like that. I don't know if anyone has ever been sexy like that since. I think it's a pretty good show too. I hope nothing happens to him.
